Toast First
Toast the bagel on a toaster or in the broiler. When sesame seeds start giving out a nutty scent, then that is when you know it is almost cooked. It takes you approximately a minute then to go perfectly toasted to burnt. Close attention should be paid to it. Experience is a very good teacher.
The Layering
Now the cream cheese should be spread on the bagel when it is still warm enough to melt. Place the salmon in the top and do not think about it. Food that is presented in a neater fashion appeal less.
The Quick Salad
I tend to make it straightforward and easy going. There are also occasions that the tomatoes are natural and the juice of the tomatoes is sufficient to provide flavour to the dish. It maintains the preparation to be fast and the taste to be fresh. But when I have the mood to make it a bit fancier I will sprinkle a little of olive oil on the top. This gives it depth and provides the dish with a smoother texture.
Last Minute
Add some black pepper or the squeeze of a lemon on the top of the salmon and it will taste like you have bought too much at a cafe.

I have always believed that smoked salmon bagels were the prerogative of the restaurant the type of food which you only order in a high-priced brunch place when you are feeling high-end. Turns out, I was wrong. It is actually among the simplest breakfast meals to assemble in case you want something which can pass as special yet you are not willing to put any effort into it.

I am firmly convinced that you should make the best out of what you have. Cooking does not necessarily demand exceptional planning or even store products. Within our case, the recipes are often cooked using a limited number of ingredients but made delicious. But it was in this way that I made this plate this morning out of what I had in my kitchen.
The Base
Take a sesame seed bagel and put it into the toaster till the side parts get slightly crunchy with the inside part being soft and chewy. The aim is to bring out a balance between the crunch and softness. When the bagel gets too hard then it may lose that delicious chewiness. A bagel is lightly toasted and this keeps the flavour and texture right.
The Spread
Smooth a little plain cream cheese on the bagel. Light cream cheese is okay in case you want it to be lighter, but full-fat cream cheese is more appropriate with smoked salmon. The more intense texture goes hand in hand with the salmon and adds to the general taste. It is sometimes nice to have the cake and eat it too, without being so preoccupied about being healthy.

Top it with sliced salmon that is smoked. In most cases, I purchase a small pack at the deli area since you would not need much to prepare the dish to look a bit fancy. Several slices suffice to make the dish rich in taste and give it a touch of class. Even a little bit of it will improve the entire flavour and texture. These slices are elegant to the plate but they do not overpower the other foods. The meal can be improved at times with small additions.
To it, include a small bunch of mixed greens, i.e. spinach and arugula, and a few cherry tomatoes. They add freshness, colour and equilibrium to the plate as well as it is nice to have something green on the plate along with the meal.

And is not smoked salmon a costly fish?
It may be quite costly, yes, but you do not need a lot. I tend to purchase one small pack and lengthen it to three or four breakfasts. Slices can be used in order to give the bagel a lot of flavour. Considering this, even purchasing smoked salmon in such a manner is less expensive than going to a cafe and ordering a single bagel with salmon.
Can I use a different bagel?
Absolutely. Everything bagels would be awesome in case you enjoy the aggressive and powerful tastes. Nonetheless, I tend to go back to sesame bagels as it is a light crunch that does not overwhelm the flavour of the salmon. The taste of the sesame is mild and well balanced, this enables the freshness of the salmon to be the focus of the meal.
What will happen in the case that I do not like having salad in breakfast?
Fair. Mornings in the greens are not that popular. Instead of the salad you can replace it with a few slices of cucumber or with capers or even with a couple of pickled onions in case you like the salty, tangy bite without leaves.
You do not need to have a chef degree (or fancy kitchen) to enjoy having a nice morning.
